WOODBURY - Some Long Island retailers say the online tax bill will be bad for business.
The Marketplace Fairness Act was passed by the Senate yesterday and would make it easier for states to collect sales taxes for online purchases.
Small, online retailers, such as Huntington's Once Upon A Baby Gallery, say they would lose a price advantage. Terry McMullen, who works for the gallery, says the drop would hurt their bottom line.
"I think it's another way for the government to prevent small businesses, like myself, to go forward," McMullen said.
The bill still needs to pass the Republican-controlled House of Representatives before it becomes law.
