LI police cracking down on gang violence

WOODBURY - Police across Long Island are cracking down on gangs after a recent spate of shootings.

Investigators tell Newsday they are placing their focus back on the Bloods, Crips and MS-13 street gangs, after several shootings occurred that are thought to be gang-related.

Despite the refocused efforts, gang violence is nothing new to Long Island. Newsday reports that police have identified thousands of gang members on the Island over the past 10 years.
