NEW HYDE PARK - Officials are warning drivers that the snow falling across Long Island could make for a messy commute tonight.

Snow removal crews in the Town of North Hempstead are in place and spent yesterday salting over roads before the storm hits.

Highway Superintendent Tom Tiernan says liquid brine solution and salt water has been placed on the roads so that when the snow starts accumulating, it won't stick frozen to the ground.

The storm that is moving through the area is expected to dump 2-5 inches of snow across Long Island.
