HUNTINGTON - ? A simple lunch time joke nearly cost a little girl her life, but one heroic lunch monitor ran to the rescue. The incident happened at Stimson Middle School in Huntington. Joet Cooper, a seventh-grader, decided to buy a bag of Sun Chips with her lunch and choked on the chip while laughing.

Joet says when the chip first became lodged in the back of her throat, a substitute teacher ran to her aid and tried the Heimlich maneuver, but it didn?t work. He called for help and a colleague named Ms. Z tried the Heimlich maneuver again and it worked. Ms. Z has been credited with saving Joet?s life.
