WOODBURY - In the wake of Long Island's most recent pharmacy shooting, lawmakers are pushing to require drug store alarm systems. Suffolk County Legislator Kate Browning (D-3rd District) says she is trying to introduce a measure that would mandate silent alarms at pharmacies across the county. An ATF agent was shot and killed New Year's Eve during an attempted robbery at Charlie's Family Pharmacy in Seaford. This past June, four people were murdered at Haven Drugs in Medford.
