FARMINGDALE - Long Island mothers who lost children in battle are working hard to ensure their loved ones are remembered this Memorial Day weekend.

Dawn Esposito, who lost her son Michael in Afghanistan in 2004, has reactivated the North Fork Chapter of the Gold Star Mothers organization and has been awarded medals and honors for her service.

Esposito presented a wreath at the Long Island National Cemetery?s weekend Memorial Day ceremony.

She will present another wreath on behalf of Gold Star Mothers tomorrow at Calverton Cemetery, where her son is buried.
