RIVERHEAD - ? Officials say a former Long Island football star is heading to jail.

Malcom Cater played football for Riverhead High School and was a linebacker at Syracuse University.

Last month, Cater pleaded guilty to a burglary spree on the upstate campus.

Cater has been sentenced to 1 to 3 years behind bars.

Cater apologized to the university and to everyone that believed in him.
