LI food banks reach out for donations

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, local food banks are reaching to the public for donations.

The Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead, which over the years has served about 9 million meals to needy Long Islanders, says any donation of food or time is appreciated.

Donations have taken a hit this holiday season amid the credit crisis that's ravaged the economy....
