WOODBURY - As gas prices across Long Island continue to climb, drivers are looking for ways to beat the pain at the pump. Some drivers say they're carpooling or meeting up with co-workers at park-and-rides. Others are taking the eco-friendly route by shopping for hybrid vehicles or other super fuel-efficient cars. The Long Island Rail Road says its ridership has jumped over the past two months, although it's not known if that's directly attributable to gas prices. According to AAA, Long Island gas prices are averaging about $4.01 per gallon for regular gasoline. News 12 Traffic and Weather
