HUNTINGTON - Some Long Island Democrats say they fear backlash from what they call the "Obama Effect" this coming Election Day.

Some Democrats up for re-election this November say even though President Barack Obama isn't up for re-election this year, they're concerned the president's low popularity will impact them at the polls.

Political analyst Larry Levy says there have been cases throughout political history where local candidates have been wiped out because the president was in disfavor.

However, the head of the Huntington Republican Party, Toni Tepe, says even though it may help Republicans, the candidates also have to have the right issues and programs to offer the people another viable option.
