FARMINGDALE - Soldiers based in Farmingdale are heading to Afghanistan on a dangerous mission.

News 12 Long Island - was there for the proud, tearful deployment ceremony today, where soldiers said goodbye to their loved ones. The 333 Military Police Brigade is being deployed to work directly with Afghan police. The tour is considered dangerous because of the recent spike in "insider attacks" on coalition troops by their Afghan partners. The brigade is heading to Fort Bliss in Texas tomorrow for six weeks of training before heading to Afghanistan. They expect to return sometime in June of 2013.
