BETHPAGE - Long Island first responders are hoping to update emergency radio frequencies.

New York State Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will join 9/11 first responders from Long Island in Bethpage today.

The group wants legislation passed that would put safety officials on the same radio frequency.

A 9/11 commission report found Nassau and Suffolk officers on different frequencies could not communicate quickly.

The responders are hoping for a new network before the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
