LEVITTOWN - Levittown North Baseball League is honoring a Seaford boy who passed away after a courageous battle with liver cancer this past March.

Lorenzo Fernandez was 9 years old when he was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2011, but continued to play his favorite sport of soccer throughout his treatment.

Baseball may not have been his sport of choice, but the Little League chose to honor Fernandez's memory. This season, each player will be wearing a patch on their sleeve featuring Lorenzo's name and favorite number.

"Tears come to my eyes…the love that everyone has for Lorenzo," said the boy's mother, Laura.

On June 21, the Levittown North Baseball League will host an all-star game and fundraising event in Lorenzo's name. The money they raise will benefit other children with cancer.
