HICKSVILLE - New legislation passed in the state Assembly and the state Senate would prohibit smoking on all Long Island Rail Road platforms.

As News 12 Long Island has reported, smoking bans already exist in Great Neck and Hempstead town parks and beaches. Nassau County is also considering a ban on smoking with kids in the car.

If Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) decides to sign the bill, it would take effect in 90 days.
