Police say Berkowitz got out of the car to walk home because she felt Pagano was too drunk to drive.

CORAM - A Coram man has admitted to driving drunk before getting behind the wheel of his Jeep and running down his friend.

Lawrence Pagano was arraigned today on drunken driving charges.

Police say Pagano admits he was drinking before getting behind the wheel early Saturday morning in Setauket.

As News 12 has reported, Pagano allegedly ran down his friend, Krystal Berkowitz, as she walked away from his car on Nesconset Highway.

Police say Berkowitz got out of the car to walk home because she felt Pagano was too drunk to drive.

Pagano is being held on $250,000 bail.
