WOODBURY - ? The state Assembly has passed a ban on indoor tanning for those under the age of 16.

However, 17-year-olds can use indoor tanning beds with parental consent, according to Newsday.

Right now, kids between 14 and 18 years of age need written consent from a parent.

In Suffolk County, the law requires parents to actually be present at the tanning salon.
