WOODBURY - U.S. congressional members, including Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford), want cancer added to the list of diseases that qualify for assistance from the Sept. 11 health fund that benefits first responders.

So far, federal officials have refused to do so, claiming there isn't enough evidence to support that spending time at Ground Zero has increased the risk of getting cancer.

However, lawmakers say a recent study commissioned by the FDNY shows otherwise.
