EAST SETAUKET - Some second grade students in East Setauket showed their support for troops overseas Tuesday by writing letters of appreciation.

The Laurel Hill School students found inspiration from a classmate who has a parent in the military.

The students also collected items such as razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, food and other items.

They raised over $1,200 to pack more than 25 boxes and ship them overseas.
