WEST BABYLON - The man convicted of murdering an NYPD detective from West Babylon has been sentenced to 45 years to life in prison.

Earlier this month, Lamont Pride was convicted of second-degree murder for the shooting death of Detective Peter Figoski. However, Pride was acquitted of the top charge of first-degree murder.

Figoski was shot and killed by Pride after responding to a robbery at a Brooklyn apartment building in December 2011.

All four of Figoski’s daughters addressed the court before the judge imposed the sentence.

"You have the right to wake up every day and breathe and enjoy the glory of being alive,” said one of Figoski’s daughters. “Those are the fundamental rights that you stole from our father on a dark stairway."
