Knicks coach D'Antoni resigns

Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni has resigned in the wake of a six-game losing streak and reports that he had lost control of the clubhouse.

WOODBURY - Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni has resigned in the wake of a six-game losing streak and reports that he had lost control of the clubhouse. Assistant coach Mike Woodson was named as interim coach for tonight's game against the Portland Trailblazers and will likely finish out the season. Some local fans say they are not surprised by the decision. "He's an offensive coach that didn't know what to do with these guys and they didn't want to play for him," says Woodbury resident Sy Lippman. The Knicks have fallen into a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
