KINGS PARK - News 12 Long Island has learned a Kings Park firefighter helped to save a life on the way home from her husband's funeral.
Volunteer firefighter Roseanne Kleppsattel was returning from her husband's funeral in the back of a Kings Park fire engine when they hit traffic on the Long Island Expressway on Tuesday. That is when they spotted a woman was trapped in a car that was pinned next to a bus.
Kleppsattel quickly put on her late husband's turnout jacket and went to work. She admits police officers were very surprised when they asked where they just came from.
Kleppsattel stood with the fire hose as first responders freed the woman.
The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries thanks to their help.
