WOODBURY - As a new school year approaches, many parents say they're being forced to spend more to get their kids ready for school.

On the shopping list are not only school supplies, but new clothes as well.

Parents say they have to spend at least a couple hundred dollars on each child, sometimes even more.

For some, the costs are too much to bear, but fortunately there are some organizations ready to help.

In Uniondale, the Loving Hands Ministry handed out 100 backpacks full of school supplies to kids.
