Judge grants class-action status to lawsuit against NYPD's Operation Clean Halls
A federal judge has granted class-action status to a lawsuit filed against the NYPD's Operation Clean Halls in The Bronx.
The operation allows officers to conduct stop-and-frisks in private buildings if the landlords request it. The judge ruled to have the practice stopped, but then put that order on hold while the city appeals the decision.
