MINEOLA - Nassau Republicans and Democrats are battling in court over the county's new legislative redistricting plan, but today a judge adjourned the case until Tuesday.

The GOP plan would dramatically reshape the 19 legislative districts in Nassau County and determine how voters are separated into election districts for the next decade. But Democrats are against the changes and filed a petition claiming that the new maps are a violation of the county charter.

Political analyst Larry Levy says the judge has tremendous power because if he delays the redistricting process long enough, it will be impossible to use the maps for the 2011 elections this November.
