WOODBURY - A new Johns Hopkins University study found that obese mothers may have a higher risk of giving birth to children with autism.

The study, published in the Pediatrics journal, found a common thread between maternal obesity, diabetes and the risk of autism.

Obese women, it found, have a 92 percent higher chance of having a child with autism.

When the obese mother also has diabetes, the risk triples.

Doctors recommend healthy eating and exercise.
