YAPHANK - John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Facility residents are struggling to find new homes.

The Suffolk Legislature yesterday rejected a proposal that would have delayed the county-run nursing home's closure. About 160 residents remain at the home, many of whom have no idea where to go.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone threatened for months to close Foley if union workers and other opponents didn't drop their opposition to his plan to lease the home to a private operator. But late last week, employees overwhelmingly rejected the lease deal.

Now, patients and their families say they're left wondering whether to leave Foley or stay and hope the lease deal is approved.
