Jockey injured after horse suffers deadly fall at Belmont

ELMONT - A jockey was injured at Belmont after a horse suffered a deadly fall at the track. 

News 12 Long Island has learned the No. 3 horse, "Roses for Romney," clipped her heels and fell during the eighth race yesterday at Belmont Park.

New York Race officials say the horse died during the incident, but offered few other details.
 
The jockey, Irad Ortiz Junior, was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
 
There is no word on his condition.
