SEAFORD - A Long Island mother whose daughter suffers from leukemia says she filed a complaint against her insurance company after it suddenly switched her daughter off of her plan.

Joann Annunziato says her 3-year-old daughter Maya was covered through Child Health Plus, a program through Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Annunziato received a letter recently stating that Maya was being switched to another plan that her doctors aren't a part of. The family could have switched again to a plan that includes her doctors, but that deadline has already passed.

Annunziato says she is trying to work with the insurance company but that she is stuck in a paperwork jam.

In the meantime, Maya continues to be treated by the same doctors.
