KENNEDY AIRPORT - Police shut down parts of Kennedy Airport this morning after receiving reports of a suspicious package. American Airlines Terminal 8 was evacuated at around 7:30 a.m. after someone came across an unattended bag in a business class lounge. A bomb squad and police K-9 unit were called in, but police say the black briefcase turned out to be nearly empty. Officials say the carry-on belonged to a traveler heading to San Francisco. The terminal was reopened about 90 minutes later.
