JERICHO - The Jericho School District hosted its third annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender forum today at Jericho Middle School.

More than 100 people attended the event, which featured a keynote speech from Dr.Eliza Byard, the executive of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network.

"It is hugely important that every single child in the Jericho schools and the schools throughout Long Island is welcomed at school, is safe while they're there, and has an equal opportunity to learn and succeed," Byard said.

The goal of the event was to promote a world where every child learns to respect all people, regardless of sexual orientation.
