Islip teen, Steven Taggart, charged in Kings Park High School bomb threat

Police say Steven Taggart posted on Twitter that he was going to blow up the Kings Park High School gym. (January 26, 2013)

CENTRAL ISLIP - An Islip teen was in court today for allegedly posting a bomb threat on Twitter.

Suffolk police say 16-year-old Steven Taggart posted on Twitter that he had a bomb and was going to blow up the Kings Park High School gym. Authorities say the comments stemmed from a rivalry between the Kings Park and Islip high school basketball teams.

Students could not attend last night's basketball game because of the threat.

Police charged Taggart with falsely reporting an incident.

Taggart was released to his parents and is due back in court in two weeks.
