Islip scraps plan to limit Town Supervisor Croci's powers
ISLIP - A controversial plan to strip the Town of Islip supervisor of some of his powers has been scrapped.
The Islip Town board voted unanimously to kill the proposal that would have stripped Supervisor Tom Croci of his power to hire, fire and negotiate with unions.
Last month, four board members - three Republicans and one Conservative - tried to have some of the supervisor's powers transferred to them.

Board members claim they'd been able to work through some of their differences in the past few weeks through private meetings.
