Islip officials: Small aircraft escorted to MacArthur

The Town of Islip has confirmed that several F-18s scrambled to intercept a small aircraft that allegedly violated the temporary flight restriction around John F.

ISLIP - The Town of Islip has confirmed that several F-18s scrambled to intercept a small aircraft that allegedly violated the temporary flight restriction around John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Officials say the aircraft was escorted by the F-18s to Islip's MacArthur Airport.

News 12 Long Island was told that only the pilot was aboard the small aircraft. The identity of the pilot has not yet been released. No word on whether the incident was an accident.
