ISLAND PARK - Many residents of Island Park pumped water out of their basements today after Tropical Storm Andrea flooded streets and homes with nearly 5 inches of rain.

Residents say that storm drains were problematic during the rainfall because they have not been cleared out since Superstorm Sandy last fall. Many homes in the Island Park area were heavily damaged during the late October storm.

They say that flooding is an ongoing problem that may eventually drive longtime residents from the neighborhood.
