WOODBURY - Tensions overseas will result in extra security across Nassau County for the Jewish High Holy Days, according to officials.

Rosh Hashana starts tonight at sundown.

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano says there will be extra patrols around temples and synagogues even though there are no specific threats.

Rosh Hashana is followed by a period of reflection that ends next weekend with Yom Kippur, a solemn day of atonement.
