CENTRAL ISLIP - A Huntington Station man was convicted Friday of murdering his teenage neighbor.

It took the jury less than two hours before convicting Adam Saalfield, 22, of slashing 18-year-old Maggie Rosales' throat on Oct. 12, 2014 while she was walking near her home on Lynch Street. Part of the attack was captured on a surveillance camera from a nearby store.

During the 10-day trial, prosecutors told jurors that investigators found a mix of Saalfield and Maggie's DNA in a quarter-mile blood trail leading from the crime scene to Saafield's house. Prosecutors also said they seized a knife from Saalfield and clothing from his home.

Saalfield faces a prison term of 25 years to life when he is sentenced on Sept. 23.

Maggie was a senior at Walt Whitman High School and wanted to become a veterinarian.
