HUNTINGTON STATION - Huntington town officials have voted to allow the $100 million Avalon Bay housing project to move forward.

The project will create 379 new apartments in a hope to revitalize the troubled area.

Residents came out in large numbers to voice their support, with some saying that it would help clean up and revitalize the area.

Other say the project will increase traffic in an already congested area, slowing response time by ambulances to local hospitals.

The project will be the first apartment complex built in the area in a decade.
