LONG BEACH - Thanksgiving in Long Beach came early today from an unexpected source.

St. Francis Hospital was supposed to hold a gala tonight, but CEO Alan Guerci says it didn't feel right to have a party that cost $400-500 per seat just miles away from the devastation in Long Beach.
Instead, Guerci says he told the caterer to put the money they spent toward making a traditional hot Thanksgiving dinner for as many people as possible.
The event was moved to Long Beach Regional Catholic School, where hospital staff served dinner to community members and emergency responders.
Staff also checked attendees' blood pressure and administered flu shots.
