EAST MORICHES - Homicide detectives say they are investigating the death of an East Moriches teen who fell asleep after a night of drinking and never woke up.

Police say 18-year-old Matthew Yuhas was found dead Sunday at a house on Magnolia Court.

According to investigators, on Saturday night, Yuhas and about six other teens had been drinking at a friend's house three doors down from his own house.

Police say at some point, Yuhas fell asleep in a chair. Sunday morning, one of Yuhas' friends saw him still lying there, but he wasn't breathing.

Authorities wouldn't say what kind or how much alcohol was found at the house, but they are looking into whether alcohol may have played a role in the teen's death.

Officials say toxicology results may not be available for several weeks.

Yuhas was set to graduate from Eastport South Manor High School this June and had plans to go to college in the fall.

Grief counselors will be on hand at Yuhas' school throughout the week.
