HEMPSTEAD - The torrential rains that washed over Long Island today left many homeowners scrambling to protect their property.

Robert Sudock, of Baldwin, says there was so much rain that his pool overflowed and his basement office was also flooded out, damaging some of his paperwork.

At the Macarthur Senior Village in Hempstead, a tow truck was needed to pull cars and vans to higher ground. There was so much water it ended up flowing into the basement garage of the building. Weather Center Watch News 12 Watch Traffic and Weather Submit Photos/Video
