LONG BEACH - Homeowners struggling to rebuild after Sandy say they're running into red tape in their efforts to get insurance money.

Some Long Beach residents tell News 12 Long Island they've been denied insurance money, while others say insurance companies haven't even considered their policies yet.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo held a news conference less than a month ago, pledging to crack the whip on insurance companies who didn't act in a timely manner.

Sen. Carl Marcellino (R-5th District) says he's received about a dozen calls from residents with similar insurance problems. That's why he asked Cuomo to send a mobile command center to his area, where Department of Financial Services representatives answer homeowners' questions.
