ELMONT - A homeless man is under arrest today after he allegedly stabbed a man who wouldn't give him money.

Police say James Howley was given a dollar from a man on Meacham Avenue in Hempstead yesterday afternoon. When Howley asked for more and the man turned him down, Howley allegedly stabbed the victim.

The victim hit Howley with a pipe to fight him off.

The victim was able to point out the suspect to police after they were both sent to the same hospital for treatment.
