MANHATTAN - The homeless man who was given a pair of boots from an NYPD officer from Long Island is without shoes again, according to the New York Times.

The Times tracked down Jeffrey Hillman, who told them he's hidden the $100 boots in a safe place because he's afraid they'll get stolen. He also said he was grateful to officer Larry DePrimo, who's from Holbrook, but said he'd like compensation, since the photo was posted online without his permission.

An Arizona tourist took a picture of officer DePrimo giving Hillman the boots and posted it to the NYPD's Facebook page, where the image went viral.
