WEST BABYLON - The man accused of stealing packages from a West Babylon doorstep was arraigned in court today.

According to police, Christopher Breitkopf was caught on home surveillance video grabbing two packages from the doorstep of a home on Old Farmingdale Road on Friday.

Breitkopf was formally charged with petit larceny today and was ordered held on $2,500 bail.

Breitkopf told police that he is homeless, but officials note that he shaved his beard after allegedly stealing the packages to change his appearance. Authorities say that he has a lengthy criminal history, including five prior felony convictions.

It's unclear if police recovered the $200 in musical equipment that was in the stolen boxes.
