ISLIP - A homeless father of four is accused of going on a one-man crime spree around the Town of Islip that spanned several months. Police say Ronny Lacaliano is responsible for five armed robberies. He's also accused of stealing money from 14 businesses in Central Islip, Brentwood and Bay Shore. He pointed a gun at a 12-year-old boy while robbing a Bay Shore bakery, police say. Lacaliano allegedly stole a total of $13,000 in cash and merchandise. Investigators say he spent some of the proceeds on crack and also sent some cash back to his family in Honduras. Detectives say Lacaliano confessed to the crime spree and told them, "I'm not a bad person when I'm not drinking or on drugs." If convicted, Lacaliano could face up to 20 years behind bars and also faces deportation.
