BRENTWOOD - A homeless Long Island teen who is now an Intel science semi-finalist will receive another honor. Samantha Garvey is going to attend President Obama's State of the Union address later this month. Garvey will be a guest of Congressman Steve Israel. The trip comes as the Brentwood High School senior gets ready to move out of a homeless shelter. Suffolk County has found Garvey and her family a rent-subsidized house in Bay Shore. Congressman Israel says Garvey's story can teach us all a lesson in perseverance.
