Home heating oil on the rise during cold snap

WOODBURY - Officials say it is harder and more expensive to keep Long Island homes warm in the bitter cold.

The price of home heating oil has gone up to around $4.23 a gallon.
 
The price is up 7 cents from last week, according to the state Energy Research and Development Authority.

Experts tell Newsday that the spikes are caused by the cold and planned or unplanned outages at three Northeast refineries.
