SAYVILLE - A Holbrook widow received several military medals today on behalf of her late husband, who was held as a prisoner during the Korean War.
Beatrice Oresto, whose husband, Pfc. James Oresto, was captured and held for three years, received four medals, including the Purple Heart.
Oresto says she asked Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) for help because some of the information about her husband's service was left out of his military records. Israel says he worked to update the records so that the Oresto family could receive his medals.
She says she wanted her grandchildren and great-granddaughter to know what the soldier did for his country.
