Hofstra presidential debate the hottest ticket in town

The Hofstra University presidential debate is by far the hottest ticket in town right now. There are no scalpers or StubHub listings available for this

HEMPSTEAD - The Hofstra University presidential debate is by far the hottest ticket in town right now. There are no scalpers or StubHub listings available for this event -- so who gets inside the arena for the big showdown?

The size of the debate audience is about 1,000. The Commission on Presidential Debates says 300 tickets go to Hofstra, with university leaders giving all tickets to students who applied in a lottery selection. The remainder of the tickets was split between the two presidential campaign organizations.

Hofstra senior Lawrence Daves says the atmosphere on campus is electric because students like himself got arena tickets and will soon become eyewitnesses to history.

University Vice President Melissa Connelly says there are more than a dozen other events for students who don't win tickets.
