HAUPPAUGE - Higher taxes for residents could be the price of plugging Suffolk's budget gap.
News 12 Long Island obtained the new plan by Suffolk legislators before its official announcement today.
The plan would raise police district taxes $27 a year. Suffolk Bus fares would go up 50 cents, and marina and beach fees would increase.
Under the legislature's new proposal, 88 county workers would be laid-off -- not the 710 under Steve Levy's plan.
Current County Executive Steve Levy questioned the details being leaked before Election Day. He claims legislators are siding with the unions.
